The challenge
Our clients came to us with some clear requirements - make their inter-war Art Deco dwelling functional! Some unsympathetic additions had resulted in poorly planned rooms with little connection to each other or external spaces, and no clear entry to the dwelling. The lower level was disconnected from the rest of the home, and required a new bathroom for guest use.
The Solution
We reviewed the internal planning and found that a reconfigured stair allowed us to ‘flip’ the existing living, kitchen and dining layout, which provide much needed connection to the internal spaces and front and rear outdoor living areas. A new kitchen with island was built - the new focal point of the home. Additional storage was provided, and new bathroom provided at lower level. The home now flows beautifully from front to rear and provides better connection to external living areas.
